Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

The Dasinya Journal for Engineering and Informatics (DJEI) recognizes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in academic research, writing, coding, data analysis, translation, and publication workflows.

This policy ensures transparency, integrity, and accountability in accordance with COPE guidelines and aligns with DOAJ and Scopus/CSAB publishing standards.

1. Authorship and Responsibility

Artificial Intelligence tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors under any circumstances.

All authors are fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and validity of the manuscript, including any AI-assisted content.

2. Permitted Use of AI

AI tools may be used for:

  • Language and grammar improvement
  • Formatting and structural support
  • Code assistance and debugging
  • Data preprocessing and analysis support
  • Translation with human verification

All AI-assisted outputs must be reviewed, validated, and approved by the authors before submission.

3. Mandatory Disclosure

Substantial use of AI must be disclosed in the manuscript.

Substantial use includes:

  • Text generation or rewriting beyond minor language editing
  • Statistical analysis or interpretation
  • Code generation used in experiments or simulations
  • Figures, diagrams, or AI-generated visual content
  • Literature summarization used in results or discussion

Disclosure must include:

  • AI tool name and version (if available)
  • Purpose of use
  • Sections affected

4. Restrictions

AI tools must not be used for:

  • Fabricating or falsifying data, results, references, or citations
  • Producing unverifiable scientific claims
  • Writing entire manuscripts without substantial human contribution
  • Misrepresenting authorship or contributions

Generative AI tools cannot be cited as scholarly references or sources.

5. Peer Review Confidentiality

Reviewers must not upload manuscripts, data, or confidential material into public or external AI systems.

AI tools must not be used to generate or evaluate peer review reports based on confidential content. Peer review must be conducted independently by human reviewers.

6. Editorial Use of AI

Editors may use AI tools only for technical and administrative support such as language checks and formatting.

AI must NOT be used for editorial decisions, peer review evaluation, or acceptance/rejection judgments.

All editorial decisions remain the responsibility of the editorial board.

7. Data Protection

Authors and reviewers must ensure that unpublished manuscripts, confidential data, or sensitive research materials are not entered into external AI systems.

8. Compliance and Enforcement

Violation of this policy may result in one or more of the following:

  • Request for revision or clarification
  • Rejection of the manuscript
  • Retraction of published articles
  • Ethical investigation according to journal procedures

9. AI Detection and Evaluation

The journal does not rely solely on AI-detection tools for evaluating manuscripts.

All assessments are based on editorial judgment, author clarification, and supporting evidence. AI detection tools are used only as supplementary indicators.
