About the Journal

Background

Duhok, a city located in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, possesses a rich historical and cultural heritage that traces back to the Neo-Assyrian period (705–681 BCE). The region is home to more than 42 archaeological landmarks, including notable sites such as the Church of Saint Ith Ilaha, Charstin, Shindokha, the Hallamat Caves, the Grand Mosque, and the historic Old Bazaar located in the city center.

According to a historical account by Sasson Nahum, Duhok was originally known as Dohuk-e Dasinya. As with many towns in the Kurdistan Region, Dasinya is considered part of the ancestral homeland of the Kurdish people. The inhabitants of Dasinya have resided in the region for centuries, cultivating a distinct language, culture, and set of traditions. The area has historically been predominantly Kurdish in both demographic composition and cultural identity.

In recognition of this historical and cultural significance, Duhok Polytechnic University (DPU) has named its academic journal Dasinya Journal for Engineering and Informatics, drawing inspiration from the region’s enduring legacy. The journal aspires to provide a scholarly platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to disseminate original research, share innovative ideas, and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of knowledge in the rapidly evolving fields of engineering and informatics.

Vision

To establish Dasinya Journal for Engineering and Informatics as a leading academic journal that supports and promotes high-quality research in the fields of engineering and informatics, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributes to technological advancement through practical and impactful solutions addressing real-world challenges.

Mission
