Reviewer Guideline

1. Introduction

The peer-review process is essential to maintaining the quality, credibility, and integrity of publications in Dasinya Journal for Engineering and Informatics. We are grateful to our reviewers for volunteering their time and expertise. This guide outlines the responsibilities, ethical expectations, and practical instructions for reviewers using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

The journal operates a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.

2. Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide a thorough, fair, objective, and constructive assessment of the manuscript.

  • Evaluate the originality, technical quality, clarity, relevance, and significance of the work.

  • Maintain confidentiality and impartiality throughout the review process.

  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.

  • Submit the review within the agreed deadline of two weeks.

  • Avoid using manuscript content for personal, academic, or professional advantage.

Reviewers provide recommendations to support editorial decision-making. Final decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection are made by the Editor-in-Chief, based on reviewers’ reports and editorial assessment.

3. Review Criteria

When reviewing a manuscript, reviewers are asked to consider the following aspects:

Criterion Questions to Consider
Originality Does the manuscript present new insights, methods, or results?
Relevance Is the topic appropriate for the journal’s scope?
Technical Quality Are the methods and results scientifically sound and well documented?
Clarity and Organization Is the manuscript well structured and clearly written?
References and Context Are references appropriate and sufficient?
Figures and Tables Are figures and tables clear, relevant, and well labeled?
Ethics and Integrity Are there ethical concerns such as plagiarism, data manipulation, or authorship issues?

4. Review Structure

Reviews should be submitted through the OJS platform and divided into two parts:

A. Comments for the Author

(Shared with the author)

  • Use clear, respectful, and constructive language.

  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript.

  • Provide specific suggestions for improvement.

  • Clearly justify recommendations for major revisions.

B. Confidential Comments to the Editor

(Visible only to the editorial team)

  • Report ethical concerns or suspected misconduct.

  • Clarify the reasoning behind your recommendation.

  • Advise whether the manuscript is suitable for publication.

5. Recommendation Options

Reviewers are asked to select one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept Submission – Suitable for publication as submitted

  • Revisions Required – Minor revisions needed

  • Resubmit for Review – Major revisions required, re-review needed

  • Decline Submission – Not suitable for publication

6. Confidentiality and Ethics

Manuscripts under review are confidential documents.

Reviewers must:

  • Not share, cite, or distribute manuscript content during or after the review process.

  • Not contact authors directly.

  • Report suspected plagiarism, ethical misconduct, or duplicate publication confidentially to the editorial office.

Reviewers are expected to adhere to the journal’s publication ethics policies and act in accordance with accepted standards of ethical scholarly review.

7. How to Submit a Review

  • Log in to the journal website: https://dasinya.dpu.edu.krd

  • Access your Reviewer Dashboard

  • Select the assigned manuscript under Active Submissions

  • Download the manuscript and supplementary files

  • Enter comments for the author and confidential notes for the editor

  • Select a recommendation

  • Upload annotated files (optional)

  • Click Submit Review to Editor

8. Recognition and Benefits

  • Reviewers may receive acknowledgment upon request.

  • Certificates of review can be issued by the editorial office.

  • Outstanding reviewers may be invited to join the Editorial Board.
